Skincare for Normal skin type

Well, I am not blessed with a good skin or rather; a lot of factors have taken a toll on the health of my skin.  Juggling between professional and personal priorities and trying to be perfect in all roles by itself, takes a toll on the skin.  People blessed with that perfect normal skin, have no guarantee that their skin will remain fresh and glowing always.  Essentially, your skin may feel normal, but it isn’t perfect, overtime it’s changing.  Skin type does not remain static; it will change based on several factors, including age, climate, hormonal shifts, stress, and, most significantly, how much sun damage you accumulate over the years.

In my last blog, I gave you an introduction of the different skin types.  I just thought, maybe it is a good idea to review each skin type in more details.  So my next few blogs will be dedicated to a different skin type that we will review in terms of maintenance, eating habits, products to be used and general upkeep.

I start with:

NORMAL SKIN:  This is an ideal type of skin and it is neither too oily nor dry.  It is well balanced with oil and moisture and appears healthy.  The skin tone is even and pores are minimally visible.

Daily Care:

  1. Drink 10-12 glasses of water in a day. It will keep your skin fresh and tight.
  2. Don’t let the cosmetic stay on your skin for nights and remove makeup before you go to sleep.
  3. Pat your face skin very softly after washing or any skin treatment.
  4. Make it your routine to wash your face with cool water before going to bed and after waking up.normal skincare 1
  5. Morning walk is also very good to keep your skin fresh.
  6. Use branded cosmetics. Before applying cosmetics do cleansing of your skin using cleansing milk or fresh milk cream and remove       makeup with much care.
  7. Make cleansing, toning and moisturizing a part of your daily regime, morning & night.

Food for normal skin:

  1. Vitamin A is essential for a normal healthy skin and can be found in low-fat diary products. Carrots, sweet potatoes and spinach are also a good source of vitamin A and so are mangoes.
  2. Seafood contains Omega-3 fatty acids + zinc which is good for smooth, clear and glowing skin. These benefits can also be found in flaxseeds and walnuts.
  3. Vitamin C from Citrus foods is good to keep the skin smooth and taut. Hot peppers, bell peppers and sprouts have also good amount of vitamin C.
  4. Vitamin E combats skin-aging free radicals, especially protecting skin from sun damage due to  UV-sunlight-generated free radicals.  Nuts are a great source of Vitamin E so go ahead and indulge with some almonds and cottage cheese.
  5. Whole grains are rich in Vitamin B and can improve your complexion. Their benefits include clear and moisturized skin. Avocadoes and mushrooms also provide similar benefits.

 Products for normal skin:

Generally, I avoid suggesting products as a generic recommendation because though you may have a normal and healthy skin, the climatic conditions of your region may change the texture or the very nature of your job, if outdoors, may call for a specific regime.  However here are some tips:

  1. As mentioned earlier, make cleansing, toning & moisturizing a part of your product assortment for your normal and healthy skin.
  2. Exfoliate once a week with a good brand of exfoliator (Avoid harsh chemical based exfoliators).
  3. Since you have a healthy skin, show it off with elan and use minimal make up and preferably nude.

As brand recommendation, I would suggest that you visit the skin consultants of Clinique, Clarins Kiehl’s, and Shiseido for your healthy skin products.  You do not need to spend a fortune to maintain your normal and healthy skin.  Just follow our tips and your radiance will speak for your great looking skin.

Tell us how you liked our blog.  In the next blogs I will be covering the dry, oily, combination and sensitive skin maintenance too.  So keep reading our blogs and writing to us your suggestions.

All said and done, Women are most beautiful when they wear confidence on their skin.  Think about it J
